Red River Rivalry 2007

Well, it's one day before the Texas-OU game and I've got to tell you, I'm not feeling it for the 'Horns this year. Here is a little bit about my background as it relates to each school.

I grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma in the 80's and OU was one of the more dominate teams at that time. Now my mom, is all things Longhorn so I was raised with a definite anti-OU bias. But aside from that, I had OU shoved down my neck by just about all my friends and it got to be a bit much. Now I don't hate OU (as I do Alabama, LSU, Neuter Lame) but there is no love there. This is why I started liking the University of Miami b/c it seemed like they seemed to be the only ones who could beat OU when they played in the 80's (or at least that's how I remember it). Even though I was brought up watching Texas play every time they were on tv, I didn't have an extreme love for them either. In fact, I grew an affinity for A&M (mainly because it pissed my mom off at the time) and if I had grown up in Texas would have probably gone there much to my mother's chagrin. But whenever Texas and OU play, I root for Texas.

I've watched a couple of games OU and Texas have played this year. OU looks to be back to their dominating form (despite loosing last weekend to Colorado - I think they were looking ahead to Texas). Texas however looks like they are, somewhat, rebuilding. Texas is a good team but not what they were the past few years. McCoy reminds me a lot of Major Applewhite but still has some improving to do. I know, with a few of my friends, that saying anything negative about UT is borderline sacrilege but to be quite honest (and I hope I'm wrong) I see a big OU win tomorrow. Now this is a rivalry game and the records, for the most part, get tossed out the window when they play but OU has the better team.

My prediction unfortunately: OU - 31 UT - 14
