The are few teams in sports I dislike more than the Washington Deadskins (LSWho?, Filthadelpia Eagles, Neuter Lame Losin' Irish). It doesn't matter how good or bad Washington is, I've got no love for them and hope Dallas beats the tar out of them every time. Washington's coach, Joe Gibbs, is pretty classy though and makes it a little more difficult to dislike the team.
Washington comes to Dallas this weekend and, you know, I really don't know how they hang with Dallas. It feels kinda of weird saying that as I really haven't felt like that in quite a while. I think it might be close for a quarter, maybe a half of the game. Reasons I think this: Dallas' offense is really becoming elite and Washington is missing 2 big cogs on defense (Cornerback Carlos Rogers and Safety Sean Taylor); Dallas' defense has really started to play well and, in my opinion, will only get better with the addition of Tank Johnson in the nose tackle rotation; I look for Witten to have a big day and T.O. Owens as well; Dallas' 3rd down conversion rate is almost 50% (4th best in the league) while Washington is 38% (bottom 10 in the league); Plus Washington has won in Dallas 1 time since the late 90's and I don't see that trend broken this weekend. All that adds up to a Dallas win.
However, Dallas is now 8-1 and this team hasn't had that much success in the last decade really so it will be interesting to see if the team starts "believing their own press" and gets complacent. If that happens Washington, or any other team for that matter, will win. But, I really don't think that will happen. Romo is having too much fun, T.O. Owens is having too much success and the team looks like it's getting better and better each week. My prediction: Dallas 35, Washington 17.
